History and Nature Walking Tour of Sayago and Peñarol
Our History and Nature Walking Tour through the neighborhoods of Sayago and Peñarol in the city of Montevideo is an experience that showcases the natural landscape, architecture, culture, folklore, and language of the area. Over the course of two and a half hours, we’ll explore the area like a local, immersing ourselves in the lifestyle of this historic residential district.
We’ll explore eight specializations within the field of history, as well as the historical and cultural heritage of various communities, and in particular the historical and cultural heritage of that segment of the Uruguayan population descended from parts of the Argentine and Brazilian populations whose ancestral folkloric culture is Celtic—since they belong to the current Latin Celtic populations: Friulian-Venetian-Julian, Lombard, Piedmontese, French, Asturian, Galician, and Portuguese, as well as the present-day Scottish and Irish Celtic populations, which together constitute the majority of the population born in the northern part of the Department of Montevideo.
