Embark on a personal journey through the rugged Bjelašnica highlands, tracing a path shaped by our family’s history. This immersive 9-hour trek explores the traditions, resilience, and daily rhythms of highland life, guided by the stories of the sisters who called these mountains home.
Our adventure begins in the ancient village of Umoljani, known for its folklore, stećci tombstones, and historic stone architecture. From here, we ascend the panoramic ridges of Mount Obalj, rewarding you with dramatic views of the profound Rakitnica Canyon twisting thousands of meters below.
We then descend into Lukomir, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s highest and most isolated nomadic village. Walking here feels like stepping back centuries—traditional stone homes with steep cherry-wood roofs still cling to the cliffside. We'll connect with locals to learn about their customs and a lifestyle beautifully untouched by the modern world.
Finally, our trail winds through the serene meadows of Lovnica to Čuhovići, a hidden gem of authentic highland heritage. Perfect for trekkers seeking raw landscapes paired with soulful cultural storytelling.
