Mexico City Tour: La Merced & Sonora
Market with Tastings
Panoramica del tour
Get submerged in the second-biggest market in Mexico City
I have lived and walked around these markets since I was 13 years old. My family has 3 Taquerias in the market, so I know the area, and it's what I consider home.
Walk with me through the centre of Mexico City and visit various places to experience the authentic taste of Mexican specialities.
The guide will take you to 8 stops; you will explore the exotic La Merced market and Sonora Market (market dedicated to witchcraft), the second-largest market in all of Mexico City, and you will try authentic Local food.
In the heart of the city center, you can taste dishes that will make your mouth water, delicious local food, fresh water, seasonal fruit, pre-Hispanic ingredients, Mezcal, and more.
Remember to come with comfortable shoes and clothes, since much walking is involved. It is not recommended for people with low mobility.
¡Come hungry, as you will eat and explore the massive heart of the market!

This is the tour if you want to see what real Mexicans are doing every day. The family community atmosphere of the market was because our guide knew so many people. We tried so. Many. Foods.Listen!!! I ate a scorpion. Then the Mercado Sonora was exactly i was looking for! I felt safe, informed and well taken care of….. right down to hand sanitizer provided by Gabriel. Then the literal icing on the cake at the biggest pastry shop i had ever seen. Gabriel was the best!!!
