Hop on board the most remarkable sites of the Southwest region. Start the day at the amazing volcanic crater Lake Kerið. Believed to be a collapsed magma chamber after an eruption 6.000 years ago, Kerið is like no other. There you can admire vivid colors from milky blue in the lake to deep dark red and bright green on the volcano slopes.
Next up is, Geysir geothermal area and its steaming hot springs. Even though Geysir itself is now dormant, its little brother Strokkur will for sure surprise you when its boiling water sprouts in the air every few minutes.
Only a few minute drive from there stretch the powerful golden waterfall Gullfoss. Its unique shape offers a spectacle that will take your breath away. Its torrential waters run down two steps to a 32-meter-deep canyon.
Last but not least stop of this adventure is Þingvellir National Park. On the list of the UNESCO World Heritage List for its cultural values since 2004, Þingvellir is an unparalleled site for both historical and geological aspects. This is the best place on Earth to see the diverging of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates as well as the place where the Icelandic parliament was founded in 930.

Tony versorgte uns an jedem Ort mit genau den richtigen Informationen und ließ uns dann genügend Zeit, um die Stätten auf eigene Faust zu erkunden. Dean navigierte sicher durch die abwechslungsreiche Landschaft und die teilweise schmalen Straßen. Ich kann dieses Erlebnis wärmstens empfehlen, um einen Eindruck von den Naturwundern dieses Landes zu bekommen.
Der Reiseführer erzählte viele interessante Geschichten, man hatte für jedes Objekt genügend Zeit, um es in Ruhe anzuschauen, und die Natur ist wunderschön.
