Sinaia Tour: from the Nest of Bandits
to Cradle of Dynasty
Aperçu du circuit
In 1690, a Wallachian nobleman built a small monastery inspired by his voyage to Mount Sinai; a village developed around it. In the 1860s, attracted by the area's wild beauty, Romania's first king, Charles I, decided to build his summer residence here, which would become Peles Castle. Soon, the place became the favorite resort of the Romanian upper classes, who started building their luxurious holiday villas in the area.
The tour also includes the guided tour inside the Peles Castle (but YOU HAVE TO BUY the tickets before - 100 lei INCLUDES two floors, studenst and seniors have discount), these chalet revival fantasy castles pay homage to nearly every architectural style in Europe as well as including all the mod-cons, such as lifts, central heating, plumbing, and electric skylights. Peleş contains a large armory collection, secret passages, a hall of mirrors, and everything a fairy tale castle 'should' have.
Impressive hotels, casino, modern restaurants, and shops followed, which, by the end of the 19th century, turned Sinaia from an obscure village into Romania's unofficial summer capital.

C'était génial ! Adriana est une guide formidable, elle a tout expliqué très bien et a répondu à toutes nos questions. La visite était très agréable, elle nous a même invités à boire un verre de vin et nous a expliqué comment nous rendre à d'autres endroits intéressants.
