Enjoy this relaxed tour through the historic town of Kotor, which dates back to the 5th century. I will begin by sharing a few interesting facts about Montenegro, and then we’ll dive into the fascinating history of this beautiful coastal town.
For this unique experience I have placed a limit of 6 pax so that I can dedicate enough time for each participant.
Our journey starts at the South Gate, one of the original entrances to the old city. From there, we’ll stroll through charming narrow streets until we reach the Cathedral of St. Tryphon, an iconic Romanesque church built in the 12th century. Next, we’ll make our way to the main square, now located by the Sea Gate, the current main entrance to the city.
We’ll conclude our tour at the North Gate, which once served as a strategic access point and escape route.
At the end of the tour, I’ll gladly recommend additional sites and local spots for you to explore on your own, whether you're interested in museums, viewpoints, or great places to eat.

Overall, the tour was enjoyable, and it was great to learn more about Kotor and its rich history. While I felt the structure could have been a bit more organized – at times it seemed a little improvised and some information was repeated – it was still a worthwhile experience. I did find it a bit hard to stay fully engaged throughout, which is unusual for me during walking tours. That said, there were several stories that stood out as particularly interesting and inspiring. I also really appreciated the local recommendations our guide shared. They were incredibly helpful!
I have visited Kotor before, but the experience is not complete if you do not know the spirit of the past of this old town. I walked through the stone streets of old Kotor imagining what life was like for the people who passed through those same streets centuries before me and it seemed to me that I could imagine them in their everyday life. With a tourist guide who knows the history of Kotor throughout the centuries, you can experience the spirit of old times and old Kotor through historical facts, stories and legends, as if you lived in their time, in the time of that small but magnificent city. Through the people who visit this town, the spirit of the old town of Kotor lives and breathes.
