The Hotel Escuela El Habitante has been a long-held dream of Fundación Tiempo de Juego. In 2012, the project of El Habitante won three prizes for social businesses at the Ventures Awards, which are sponsored by Dinero, a Colombian financial magazine. The hotel, which was originally intended to be in Cartagena, has the double purpose of contributing to the sustainability of Tiempo de Juego’s community-based projects on the ground, as well as exploring alternative ways of tourism development that are inclusive and ecologically responsible. At the same time, it is conceived as a training facility for local youth to learn skills and trades related to the hospitality industry.
