Valletta Food Tour - Eat Like a
Local
Tour Overview
The history of Valletta is representative of that of the whole island: a mixture of influences from all the foreign powers that ruled it in turn throughout the centuries.
Built by the Knights of St. John, Valletta quickly became a very important and cosmopolitan harbour city and a perfect place through which foreign culinary practices and new exciting ingredients would have been able to enter the island.
This tour is full of fascinating historical anecdotes specifically related to food, and is thus very different from your normal sightseeing tour. Most of the stories will not be found in any guide book but are nonetheless a fascinating insight into the lesser-known parts of Malta’s history and culture.
In addition, you will get to sample authentic traditional Maltese food and drinks in a number of stops during the tour.
The guide will also provide tips on where and what to eat during your stay in Malta, as well as the best places to shop for authentic Maltese food.
Don’t miss this fascinating insight into Maltese culture.

We had a great food tour. We tasted a lot of different local specialties, including drinks. Besides the food, we also get a good insight into Malta`s / Valletta´s history. I especially enjoyed the lunch at the end, which took place in an indoor market place. I can just recommend it!
Not my first food tour. The previous one was in Bulgaria and I had high expectations for this one as the first one was ???? I expected from the guide to be more talkative and to interact more with us, I missed the presentation part with the group and I also expected to be in more local places and try more than 3 things and not to have a 20' gap in the middle of the tour. I find it too expensive for the things done.
Matthew did a great tour! We enjoyed our time in Valletta and the food we got to taste was wonderful - a great assortment of delicacies. We still are not hungry this evening! Thanks again!
Matthew was a nice guide who showed us around Valletta for 3 hours, we tried a lot of the must have local food & got a good history of Malta. Definitely recommend!
We can only recommend the tour through Valetta and our guide through Valetta was also great.
