Learnt a lot about this lovely city from our excellent tour guide.
I recently had the pleasure of joining a walking tour in Almaty, which turned out to be a private experience as no other guests had signed up that day. This unexpected twist made the tour even more special and personalized. From the moment I met my guide near the iconic Zenkov Cathedral, I knew I was in for a treat. He was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Almaty’s rich history and culture. His storytelling skills were exceptional, effortlessly blending historical facts with engaging anecdotes that brought the city’s past and present to life. We explored the bustling Green Bazaar, where he introduced me to local delicacies and explained the intricacies of traditional Kazakh cuisine. The vibrant colors and enticing aromas made the experience a feast for the senses. Having the guide’s undivided attention allowed for in-depth conversations about the food, traditions, and daily life in Almaty. A stroll through Panfilov Park was another highlight. The guide pointed out significant monuments and shared moving tales of heroism and resilience, deepening my appreciation for the city’s heritage. I wholeheartedly recommend this walking tour to anyone visiting Almaty. Whether you’re fortunate enough to have a private tour or join a group, it’s a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the local culture, history, and everyday life of this beautiful city. This experience truly offers something special for every traveler.
We booked the Almaty walking tour for late August 2023. My partner fell ill, so it ended up being a personal tour just for me, and although it rained off and on, Chris was on point the entire time! He came enthusiastic and armed with knowledge about the city's history, current affairs, and Kazakh culture. He answered all my questions honestly and with great detail, and the personal tour felt more like a conversation with a new friend. I learned so much about the city and about Kazakhstan as a whole. Chris really went the extra mile to make the experience both educational and fascinating, and it was the best way for me to get to know Almaty quickly. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is planning a visit.
My tour with Chingiz was amazing. After booking late I received a private tour. The tour route was interesting and eye catching at every turn. Chingizs knowledge of Kazakh history was exceptional and his willingness to answer all types of questions regarding Kazakhstan and the region was greatly appreciated. Any other tourist recommendations regarding, places to visit, food to eat or places to get a drink chingiz will help you out. A great tour, highly recommend.
I went on the Almaty Original Waking Tour in April 2023. The tour was informative and I walked away feeling like I had learned alot about the history and culture of Kazakhstan, Kazakh people and interesting points about Almaty itself - from nomadic times to the present day. The tour was approximately 1hr 30 minutes but this was perfectly timed to cover all the key aspects around the city centre. The tour operator was able to organise a tour for me despite challenging circumstances (bad weather delayed staff returning from the countryside) - this was very much appreciated. My wife took the same tour a few days later and she also really enjoyed it! I highly recommend to tourists in Almaty. Keep up the good work CJ!
