Charming Chania: Self-Guided Exploration Game
Tour Overview
This is a self-guided exploration game crafted by a passionate local storyteller and played outdoors, on the streets of multicultural and multifaith town of Chania. You will explore 12 locations while following a forbidden love story filled with historical facts. At each location, you'll be solving a real-world puzzle by searching for clues on various elements such as monuments, graffiti, and facades. The game is mainly focused around the Old Town area and includes the most picturesque spots, churches, mosques and synagogues, where Greek, Venetian, and Ottoman elements intertwine.
Starting from the Church of Saint Nicholas, the stops are spaced an average of around 250m apart, with each location taking around 9 min to complete. The route also passes through Venetian Harbor Guardhouse, Old Venetian Port, and the Lighthouse. At every stop, the app unlocks a new chapter and guides people to the next location.

Das hat mir Spaß gemacht – die Hinweise waren gut und die Route, auf der wir geführt wurden, zeigte uns einige tolle Ecken der Altstadt, darunter auch einige Straßen, in denen außer uns überhaupt keine Touristen waren! Es gab auch ein paar interessante historische Informationen (wenn auch bei weitem nicht so viele wie bei einer richtigen Stadtführung), aber ich finde, für eine kleine Stadt wie Chania reicht das völlig aus. Insgesamt hat es mir wirklich gut gefallen.
