Tour Overview

Begin your journey at the Colchis Fountain in the heart of Kutaisi. From here, head to Gelati Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site founded in the 12th century by King David IV. Once a major center of education, it features beautiful mosaics and a historic academy.

Continue to Motsameta Monastery, set on a dramatic cliff above the Tskhaltsitela River, offering peaceful surroundings and stunning canyon views. On the way back, stop at Khareba Church, carved into a limestone cliff and known for its quiet atmosphere.

Next, explore the historic Mtsvanekvavila district, one of Kutaisi’s oldest areas, with panoramic views over the Rioni River. Finish at Bagrati Cathedral, an 11th-century symbol of Georgia’s unity, located on Ukimerioni Hill. End your tour with a tasting of traditional Georgian sweets.

Note: Gelati Monastery is temporarily closed for renovation. Entry is only possible on weekends and holidays; on weekdays, the complex remains closed.
