Tour of Sites of Repression and Resistance
in Lyon
Tour Overview
Discover places with an unexpected history as you stroll through Lyon’s most iconic sites of repression.
This tour will allow you to explore the capital of the Resistance, as well as the hidden side of repression and Nazi collaboration.
During this tour, which lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours, you’ll learn how Resistance fighters and Jews were arrested and treated in Lyon. You’ll learn where the Gestapo was based, how the Militia operated, and where interrogations and deportations took place.
Along the way, you’ll learn about iconic figures—whether Resistance fighters or those responsible for the repression—as well as anonymous witnesses, victims, and key players. We’ll bring to life specific and sometimes little-known anecdotes that will help you understand how the war and the occupation transformed the face of Lyon.
This walk will allow you to rediscover the city and ask yourself: behind which facade, in which courtyard, on which square, lies a memory, a trace of those who had the misfortune to fall and the courage to resist?

The guided tour had an original and focused theme. As a skilled storyteller, the locations she chose and the stories she shared served her subject very well. There were only two of us—it was practically a private tour—which made it easier to interact with her. Anaelle answered questions thoughtfully.
The two hours fly by. The tour is very well organized, and you get to discover key spots in Lyon, whether you're a tourist or a local. Annaëlle is energetic, knowledgeable, and friendly. It's a real pleasure—don't hesitate to sign up!
A very interesting and well-documented tour. The guide was attentive and captivated us. A must-do to remember this part of history.
Anaële is an outstanding storyteller. She is very knowledgeable about this period and passionately shares all her knowledge. Thank you.
Anaelle is very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. She's passionate about the Second World War and if you want to take a walk around Lyon to discover the places that marked Qlyon during the Second World War, you've come to the right place. If you want to hear about Touvier, Barbie, but also Jean Moulin and Raymond and Lucie Aubrac, you've come to the right place. If memory is important to you, you've come to the right place.
