Biarritz Walking Tour: Surf Heritage, Sea &
Legends
Tour Overview
Discover Biarritz on this 90-minute walking tour that traces the town's journey from a humble whaling village to a legendary surf destination and elegant imperial resort.
This tour is bilingual and can be given in both English and Spanish.
Starting at the Casino esplanade, you'll see the Rocher de la Vierge, the Grande Plage, and the Port des Pêcheurs, before admiring the refined Belle Époque elegance of the imperial city — the Villa Eugénie and Hôtel du Palais, built for Empress Eugénie and Napoleon III — from the Plateau de l'Atalaye.
The tour winds along the Côte des Basques and ends at the lively Halles de Biarritz market, the perfect spot to continue tasting local flavours.

Customer Reviews
We booked this paid tour as an English only one. It happened that it was conducted in 2 languages, meaning that first, everything was presented in English, and next the same content been presented in Spanish, which twice reduced efficiency of this tour. It has been advertised as 1h30min tour. And therefore we planned our time accordingly, e.g. made restaurant reservation after it. Because of dual-lingual tour arrangement, tour guide did not complete it on-time and therefore we had to leave before that tour completed. We took many free and paid walking tours in the past, and based on our prior experience, tour informational content was poor, i.e. we felt that the guide was just wasting our time for unrelated matters.
