Tour Overview
Uncover the bustling, historic charm, and intense flavors of Downtown Cairo on the ultimate Egyptian street food crawl! Guided by a local foodie, you’ll bypass the tourist traps to navigate the lively avenues and vintage alleyways of Downtown Cairo.
Across 6 hand-picked culinary stops, you will feast on the absolute pillars of traditional Cairo street culture. We'll kick off with a tall glass of icy, freshly pressed sugar cane juice before heading to the legendary Koshary Abou Tarek to dig into Egypt's iconic national dish—a towering bowl of lentils, rice, pasta, spicy tomato sauce, and crispy fried onions.
The savory adventure continues at famed local spots for a trio of street sandwiches (spiced liver, sausage, and brain); crispy spiced-beef Hawawshy baked fresh in flatbread; and traditional herb-infused Eggah. We’ll finish on a spectacular sweet and savory note at a historic feteer bakery, enjoying hot, flaky Egyptian pastry filled with melted cheese and sweet custard.
Perfect for adventurous foodies, independent travelers, and families looking for a satisfying, authentic, and deeply local taste of Cairo. Bring your appetite and enjoy the warm summer vibes with us!

The truth is that my partner and I had a great time, the guide was very attentive and nice. She took us through the downtown area that perhaps we would not have stayed so late alone there and we could see another part of Cairo, very fun and cheerful (the area is more city and there are many young people) Being our last stop in Cairo we thought that the food was not going to surprise us so much but on the contrary, of the dishes we tried that were many, we had only tried one before. Everything was delicious. Of course, go with a lot of hunger!
We have been able to eat in 5 different and very authentic places in the center of town, always feeling very comfortable, they have been very kind
My friend and I actually had a bazaar walking tour before this one, so it was very pleasing to taste all the delicious food afterwards. The group was a small but diverse one, yet our guide made us all feel welcomed by starting with an ice-breaker and showing warm hospitality as well. We stopped by various hotspots of Egyptian food(some of which were popular places and others were hidden gems.) Even though I am not a vegetarian, I really appreciated our guide's sensitivity for those who were, considering the Egyptian cuisine is very non-veg. Overall, it was a very satisfying and enriching experience. Definitely recommend!
I can only say that we were very happy and full of this incredible experience. The guys explained us a little bit about the Egyptian history and culture. The food we tasted was very very delicious and everything was very very well organized. We are very happy we did the tour. We recommend it 100%
Best food walking tour I have been on. Walaa (Guide) was kind and very informative. She spoke both English and Spanish very well, and seemed to enjoy what she was doing. Opposed to others that just go through the motions. She made everyone in the feel welcomed.
