What an opportunity to learn about the actions of ultimately one man affecting the entire world. Adnan Dzebo was a brilliant guide and really brought the history to life. Highly recommend doing this tour and the "Tunnels of Hope". Locals convey these histories far more than any book can and if you find yourself all the way in Sarajevo, your time would be wasted not interacting with a guide who can share the multilayered stories of the fascinating city.
If you want to learn about the tragic event in 1914 that led to the start of the World War 1st then this is your tour. We had a great time going by foot to many different places related to the visit of archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo. And I'm sorry to say it was quite tragicomic, with so many people trying to assassinate him. If you love history, you will absolutely love this tour!
Enes Popara is the best tour guy that we ever had! It was a great experience!
Take the Free Walking Tour of Sarajevo first to gain a general insight into the city and its people. Then take "The Last Day of Franz Ferdinand" and the "1425 Days" (Siege of Sarajevo) tours to go deeper into the history of this lovely, but complex, land. Our guide, Halid, was quite happy to share his knowledge about the days leading up to - and following - the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria in 1914. He also was happy spend time with us to answer questions we had about present day Sarajevo and the siege of the city. A truly fantastic chap, Halid made sure that we received a fairly good grounding in the city´s history.
